The Technical Center for Inspection and Protection

The Technical Center for Inspection and Protection from Corrosion was established and organized based on the decision of the Manmade River Project Implementation and Management Authority No. (27), for the year 2001.It is a specialized, rigorous engineering center concerned with the issues of corrosion, analyzing and studying its causes and finding practical engineering solutions to limit its spread and reduce its risks for all components of the Man-Made River project, both main and accessory, in all branches and stages of the project.

Responsibilities:

- Preparing specification documents in the field of corrosion protection in cooperation with the contractual and legal offices and departments and providing technical support for all bids when necessary.

- Preparing technical documents and designs relating to materials, corrosion and control.

- Reviewing and approving the technical documents submitted by the contractors.

- Selection, evaluation and approval of suppliers in coordination with the External Procurement Department.

- Selection of materials and equipment and evaluation of their performance.

- Inspection, monitoring and auditing of all contractors, subcontractors and suppliers.

- Evaluating the contractors' quality systems in coordination with the Quality Control Department.

- Follow up the implementation of cathodic protection contracts and ensure that contractors implement cathodic protection projects and programs in accordance with the agreed terms.

- Reviewing and approving manuals for operating and maintaining cathodic protection systems.

- Supervising the operation, monitoring and maintenance of the cathodic protection systems after their implementation.

- Training technicians and engineers and qualifying them theoretically and practically on monitoring, follow-up and field measurements during the implementation and operation phases, in coordination with the Training and Development Center.

- Providing advice and technical support to the systems in GMRP phases related to corrosion and selecting the appropriate materials.

Authority:

- Approval of the appointment of qualified and appropriate human resources.

- Review, approve and sign all correspondence and reports issued by the Technical Center after making sure that they are prepared by the serial signature method.

- Submit and propose the necessary budget for running the business.

- Technical approval of the contractors' payment extracts before submitting them to the General Administration of Financial Affairs.

- Contacting the national and international expertise houses after the approval of the Chairman of the Administrative Committee.

- Preparing the necessary plans to train and develop the employees of the technical center in coordination with the training center.

- Continuous coordination and collective action between systems and technical centers, and participation in research and technical cooperation between the technical center, international expertise houses, scientific bodies and specialized research centers domestically and abroad after obtaining the prior approval of the administrative committee of the agency.
