Sarir-Sirt/Tazerbo-Benghazi

Sarir-Sirt/Tazerbo-Benghazi

The system (Sarir / Sirt-Tazerbo / Benghazi) aims to produce and transport about (2 million) cubic meters of water per day from the wells of Tazerbo and Sarir fields to supply cities and areas along the pipeline route from Jalo and Ojela to Ajdabiya, and from Ajdabiya to Benghazi in the east, and cities, as well as coastal areas until Sirt to the west, through more than (80) hatches and feeding points to supply cities and residential communities and several agricultural projects, including areas (Benghazi, Ajdabiya, Sirte, Briga, Ras Lanuf, Nawfaliyah, Jalo, Ojela, Ijkherra, Suluq, Geminis, Al-Maqroon, Bishr, Bin Jawwad, Aqeelah, Sultan), and the eastern and western valleys: (Masooda, Al-Haniwa, Matartin, Amirah, Al-Nawfaliyah and Harawa).]).
The system started partially in September 1993 to supply cities, regions and agricultural projects with their water needs with a capacity of (170 thousand) cubic meters of water per day until the average daily production reached about (850 thousand) cubic meters to cover the needs of water, note that the total production of water until 2016.12.31 m has reached (4.45 billion) cubic meters, with a monthly average of (20 million) cubic meters.
Most of the components of the System have been completed, which can be summarized as follows:

The wells of Sarir and Tazerbo fields with a total of (234) production wells and (69) control and test wells.
• The water collection system in the wells of Tazerbo and Sarir fields, with a length of (339) km.
• The water conveyance system (Sarir / Sirt -Tazerbo / Benghazi), with a length of (1,586) km.
• The upper reservoirs at Sarir and Tazerbo, with a total storage capacity of (510,000) cubic meters.
• The electric power station in Sarir area, with a total capacity of (90) megawatts.
• Al-Ghardabiyah terminal reservoir in Sirt with a total storage capacity of (6.8 million) cubic meters, Omar Al-Mukhtar reservoir in Suluq with a total storage capacity of (4.7 million) cubic meters, and the collection and balance reservoir in Sirt with a total capacity of 4.2 million cubic meters.
• Al-Ghardabiyah large reservoir in Sirte with a total storage capacity of (15.4 million) cubic meters, and Omar Al-Mukhtar large reservoir in Suluq with a total storage capacity of (24 million) cubic meters, noting that these two reservoirs represent a strategic stock to support the supply of agricultural investment projects.
• Electric power transmission and distribution system.
• Communication and control system.
• Operation and Maintenance Support Centers in all system sites.
The work of developing the communication and control system is currently underway, and during the development program, 48 additional wells will be drilled in Sarir area to reach the target quantity of the field, which amounts to one million cubic meters of water per day to cover the shortage due to the low productivity of the wells currently available in the field.
